The Sekou Camara Library
Yeredon’s Historical & Cultural Preservation collection named after Sekou Camara, a Malian scholar, artist and dear family friend, who passed away in 2012. The Sekou Camara Library’s physical and digital archives include popular and rare primary source books on the Bambara language, Malian Dance, Music, and Culture. Centre Yeredon is a premiere research hub for international scholars interested in expanding their expertise around West African History & Culture, Black Diasporic Dance & Music, through audio and video collections of performance, ritual, music, and other ethnographic resources. In addition, the library is home to a rich fabric of pre-colonial and post-colonial traditions, ranging from the arts, language and spirituality to earthwork and other forms of ancestral wisdom.
